One of our current projects in Switzerland is the Rosshäusern tunnel.
In the Rosshäusern tunnel, an automatic grounding device is being used at BLS for the first time. This serves to safely and quickly ground the overhead line of a dangerous occurrencein the tunnel, such as fire, breakdown etc.
Therefore, if emergency services call for switching off and grounding the traction power supply in a tunnel, it must be ensured that the affected sections of the overhead line were switched off and grounded before entering the tunnel. Grounding devices must be present at the tunnel entrances and inside the tunnel near the separation points.
